If you are looking for a highly polished guide that will, within a few pages or a short plane ride, help you understand what it takes to become a leader then you should probably look elsewhere.
You may feel that being a leader is easy, there is nothing else you have to learn about it or learning about it is not that hard. But in looking elsewhere you will be missing out on a book whose author has truly been there and done that.
Having been a successful leader, Kelvin could have just written his life story, as have many other leaders of business, industry or elsewhere. This is fascinating in itself. Instead Kelvin considers why and how he has been able to lead, looking back at his experiences in business, the armed services and extreme adventuring.
If any leader, or potential leader does not draw something from the book I would be amazed.
Let me confess 2 things. I have been led by Kelvin, while serving in the British Army, and I have run my own small business for 15 years. Therefore I can personally testify to Kelvin's ability to lead and empathise with his experience in building and running a company from scratch. I commend this book to you.
